Does the Lord Let the Wicked Prosper?

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

There's this guy named George. He lives in a mansion—about 4.5 million worth of real estate in a swank California neighborhood. His community of homes is surrounded with a combination brick gate and wrought iron fence. He has three luxury cars, an in-ground swimming pool, and more adult toys that you can imagine. George likes to mock Christians. He says they are weak and use God as a crutch. He boasts about how he's worked hard for everything he's got and doesn't need God for anything! He's on his third gorgeous looking wife and treats her like he did the others—as a controlling jerk. He's of the opinion that they're lucky to be married to him because of his good looks, talents, and provision he's made available to them. Things do seem to go George's way. He seems to get richer and richer. Some guys think that for him to keep trading up on wives for another that's prettier and younger than the last, is not a bad deal.

There are many difficult things to bear in life but it seems that one of the hardest for Christians is when they see arrogant and prideful people like George seem to prosper and be blessed while they themselves struggle—financially or otherwise. Jeremiah spoke about it in Jeremiah 12:1 (NIV) "You are always righteous, O LORD, when I bring a case before you. Yet I would speak with you about your justice: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease?"

The book of Job shares the same expression of sorrow. Job 21:7 and 13 (NIV) "Why do the wicked live on, growing old and increasing in power?... They spend their years in prosperity and go down to the grave in peace."

Doesn't the Word of God say that His children are the ones who should be blessed? Why does it seem like evil people prosper and why does it bother Christians so much?

We are in instructed by Jesus in Matthew 5:44-45 to: "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous."

We are taught that the Lord lets His goodness touch the lives of those who don't know Him and even those who reject Him. Why? Because He wants them to know that there is a God that loves them. You might not have thought about this, but there is something that happens inside of a person when some wonderful goodness touches their life.

As Christians, when great goodness happens, we yearn to thank God. When God allows blessing to touch the life of the sinful or the wicked—especially when they deny the existence of God, they have a dilemma. They want to thank someone and they know deep down, that someone is God. If they say they don't believe in Him, they try to redirect those feelings of thanks somewhere else. I assure you that the thanks they feel wants to go upward toward Heaven.

For those that don't deny the Lord but who just haven't thought much about Him, or for those who have avoided Him, they do often lift thanks to God but then it makes them feel guilty. They feel this way because they know they aren't right with Him. The goodness or blessing they feel is God’s strategy to help them reevaluate their relationship with Him hopefully leading them to seek Him. Romans 2:4 TLB reveals this truth. “Don't you realize how patient God is being with you? Or don't you care? Can't you see that He has been waiting all this time without punishing you, to give you time to turn from your sin? His kindness is meant to lead you to repentance."

The goodness of God touches sinners and the wicked so that they will be drawn toward repentance and consider God's love. He did the same with you and me. The Bible says in Romans 5:8 (TLB)
"But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners." In other words, He poured out His love on us when we didn't deserve it. (You might have forgotten that YOU were the wicked at that point in time.)

When God's goodness touches the Christian's life, it is called blessing. When God's goodness touches the sinner's life, it is called the ”goodness and mercy of God." It will feel like a blessing to them but it is not actually a blessing. Blessings are reserved for God's people. It is simply God's goodness and mercy. God is trying to get a hold of them, but He won’t keep trying forever.

God loves all men and is trying to reach them through the things that impact their heart. And yet, it isn't endless. It will come to an end, and if they don't turn to the Lord they will reach the end no one wants to face.

Because we as Christians know the Lord, we are rich in blessing. God is good to us and wants to bless us. We just need to remember who we are and stay focused on His will for our lives. God will take care of them. Let's not be jealous because without Him they are naked and poor while, we are rich in blessing!

Psalm 73:18-19 (NLT2) "Truly, you put them on a slippery path and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction. In an instant they are destroyed, completely swept away by terrors."

God's Plan for a World Drowning in Disrespect

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

The world we are living in today seems to be the most toxic world mankind has ever lived in. At least in our lifetimes, there has never been more toxic words and and greater disrespect shown to our fellow man than now. Let's face it. Politicians, comedians, news commentators and now, most of mankind degrade those in authority daily. It's easy to do. It's also a trap that helps infect our thinking and spark our own words of foolishness. Vice-President Mike Pence is one of those rare individuals that doesn't do this and is a wonderful role model for what I am going to discuss here today!

In God's eyes, every individual should be treated with respect. Even when they may not, in our opinion, deserve it. You mind instantly think of those who you couldn't possibly imagine respecting. But there's your key. I am not talking about respecting people. I am talking about showing respect to people. There's a difference! I believe you will see that as you read the verses that surround 1 Peter 2:17 which says, “Show proper respect to everyone…” Let's take a look.

1 Peter 2:13-23 NLT “Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God and honor the king. Servants, submit yourselves to those in authority with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive punishment for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in his steps. "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth." When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to Him who judges justly.”

God instructs us do show respect for His sake! He can move in and through our lives when we do! He can help change the world through us when we do! God’s word teaches us that it’s important to show respect to every individual, even when they appear to be totally unrespectable.

First of all, it’s the right thing by God's instruction, and because in doing so, you protect yourself and your heart from becoming just like those that won't listen to God. Always showing respect to others promotes the development of great and godly character within you. It molds a leadership quality within you that is rare today. You become a person that truly reflects the love of God. We all hear stories of how God loves us despite how we act. When you treat someone with respect that is seemingly undeserving of it, you’ve show them a quality of love that God has shown us—even when we don’t deserve it!
Treating others with respect also helps keep a bridge in place with people who seem less worthy of respect—so that you might continue to influence their life. If you read about Joseph and Daniel and Nehemiah, you'll see three leaders and role models that lived this way. If you connect the dots, you'd realize that this proper attitude of showing respect helped create the favor that positioned them rise to the top and influence their world! That is what you are on this earth for—to influence others with the love of God in all the ways you can! Your hope should always be that your words and actions become seeds planted that eventually open the heart of others to the message of the love of Jesus, and to imparting godly influence.

Another reason to show respect is that it helps protect your faith. At times when you want to disrespect someone, it’s usually because of some wrong or bad thing they’ve done or said. That's a tempting time to let ungodly and disrespectful words flow. If someone has done or said something bad that would want to make you speak disrespectfully against them, then you would probably want them to change their ways. If you want them to change, you are the one needed to pray for them. Others might dislike them so much, they wouldn't consider praying for them. Maybe they can't stand the sight of them or even feel hate for them. If you pray for them but speak against them, there will be no faith behind your words. Your prayer of faith for someone needing to change is undermined by your words against them. It's like planting a plant and then digging it right back up! Prayers for someone, accompanied by words against them, are basically pointless. They become faithless prayers that bear no fruit.

Showing respect—especially when it doesn't seem like it's deserved, is a crowbar in the hand of God to influence a disrespectful person's life for the good. Respect and honoring, coupled with kindness, is the most powerful set of tools of influence. If anything softens and helps touch a person's heart, they will.

Some people are hard to take. Change could seem impossible in their life. But if there was anyone to have an influence and be a part of their change, it would be the person who steadfastly uses their God-given tools of influence—respect, kindness and prayer! It would serve the world well!

1 Peter 1:22 (NLT) "You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart."

Lives Depend Upon You!

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

At the age of 24, I was seeking to know God. I grew up with questions about God I could never answer. I wanted to know in my heart that God existed and if so, what did He want or expect from me. At that time, I felt like I had read numerous books and perspectives on God and religion. Honestly, all they did was confuse me and make me wonder if it was possible to know anything about God for sure. Then one day, God arranged for me to bump into an amazingly kind person named Sharon that had answers to my questions. She filled in all the blanks I had about Jesus and helped me understand what He did for me—that He took the punishment I deserved for my sins upon Himself and offered to exchange them for forgiveness and eternal life with Him—this as a free gift that I only had to personally receive. I wanted to receive it. I knew I couldn't be good enough to please God on my own! She helped me pray and I sincerely asked Jesus to forgive me of all my sins, wash them away, and become my Lord and Savior.

That day, my life changed forever. I started reading the Bible and it began to come alive to me. I started attending a Bible-teaching church and met many Sharons—people who kindly answered the multitude of questions I had, and help me understand more. In didn't take long before I could see God leading me down a path of blessing and transforming my entire life.

The reason Jesus was able to reveal Himself to me was because I was seeking Him. Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) says, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. " But it was also because of Sharon, a light and a person who was able and willing to share the knowledge and love of Jesus with me. I will never ever be able to repay her for her willingness to take the time with me that day. It was the greatest gift ever given to me and the greatest day of my life.
Do you know why this happened in the first place? Because Sharon was being a light. She was different from anyone I had met. Upbeat. Kind. She had a positive attitude. She was confident in who she was. Because she was this way, it led me to asking her, Sharon, what makes you so happy? Her answer let us to talking about Jesus and me receiving Him. She left the most incredible impression on me and why it is so important to be a light!

Jesus taught His disciples, "The harvest is ripe". What did He mean by that? He meant that we would always have people around us who were seeking the truth about God. They would be in our midst whether we knew it or not. They're confused like you were. They want to know who is living it, not just talking it. And so they are watching you to see if you are the real deal! Are they seeing Jesus in you? God is using our witness as a tool to help reveal Himself to them. God has asked us to be a light to the world. A light can be seen. We must be different enough in our love, kindness, and lifestyle that others would suspect a difference and would see our light. And when that moment comes, we need to be ready to plant a seed, water a seed that’s already been planted in them, or harvest someone's efforts and lead those who are ready, to receive Jesus as Savior. It's the greatest gift of love you'll ever give any person. You might be the one who plants the seed. You might be the one who waters the seed already planted in them. Or you might be the one to lead them to the Lord in prayer! Sharon harvested me! You have people around you who are wanting to know God. So be a light! Pray God help you be one today and everyday! Develop this heart and it will change the entire course of your life!

1 Peter 3:15 “In your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect”

The Barber - An Inspirational Story

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

The Barber
Author Unknown

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects. When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists."

"Why do you say that?" asked the customer.

"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine loving a God who would allow all of these things."

The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.

Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and un-kept. The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist."

"How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"

"No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."

"Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me."

"Exactly!" affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens is, people don't go to Him."

Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV) "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart."

God’s Love Stretches Our Love

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

If I have learned anything about God, I have learned that He loves us and that He loves me far more than my intellect can comprehend!

There was a day when I was terrified of God. I was living like the devil and didn't know God. I feared He was mostly out to get me because I was such a disappointment to Him and because of the way I lived. But I was very wrong. That thinking came mostly from ignorance of God—from not knowing a thing about what the Bible says about God. At that point in time, I imagined God to be more of one ready to strike me with a thunderbolt or calamity than being a loving God. My subliminal goal was hoping not to tick off the big guy in the sky. How ignorant and irreverent that strikes me today!

In Romans 5:8 NLT the Bible says, “But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” This is saying that He proved His love to me by having Jesus die for my sins before I was ever born and then also at the time I was actually living as a total reprobate. That truly is mind-boggling! Only God could have seen beyond my stupid life of the past and still have loved me.
That is what Isaiah 55:9 is saying! "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." People often misinterpret this scripture saying that it means all God's ways are mysterious and that they can't be figured out. Well, they can't be figured out but He does reveal them to us through His Holy Spirit!

There is more to what it means than that. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." It's talking about God's love and His thoughts and attitudes of love toward us. His love and patience is so far beyond our own. He understands what has led to our perverted concepts of Him and to our ungodly living. He knows what Satan has done to pervert this earth and the atmospheres and environments of life that have contributed to our wrong thinking and behavior. It only produced a greater love, mercy and patience from God toward us. God hates what Satan has done to this earth. Understanding the depth of God's love toward  you is what will help produce good and godly change within you. His love working in us will then spill from our lives to touch and change the lives of others. His thoughts regarding love are so much greater and higher than our thoughts and intellect to grasp it.

I remember a time when I got a call from my son Jeffrey from school. I had just brought him to school and returned home. He called home telling me that he forgot his gym bag and needed me to bring it to school for him. I was really upset with him for that little infraction— at least at first. Then I thought about Jesus' higher ways and merciful love toward me. I immediately felt embarrassed that I was making such a mountain out of a molehill. He made a simple mistake as I had a thousand times before. It instantly stirred mercy and my love toward my son.

His standard of love helps me feel secure in Him as I continue to live my life knowing that He really, really loves me! Compared to the Lord's standard of love toward us, our love can seem so conditional and so easy to derail. I am so glad that God's standard is so high. His standard of love is so merciful and helps me stretch and grow my standard. I know that I am a project in progress. I continuously let His love redefine and stretch my limited love. His ways and thoughts are higher and He wants us to learn them! May they redefine your love toward others today!

Romans 8:38-39 (NLT2) "And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."

In His love,
Pastor Tim Burt

Having Integrity in an Unintegrous World

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

When I was growing up and into my teenage years, it seemed like my buddies and I were mischievous-minded—always scheming of ways to do things we shouldn't have been doing. I remember at the age of 13 scheming to steal tobacco and a pipe from a local drug store to then take into a local gas station bathroom with a couple of buddies and smoke—which we did.

Have you ever been a schemer? The main reason people scheme is to get something they want in a way that is not legally or ethically right or to manipulate a work-around after already being given the answer of No to something they wanted to do. The world is filled with schemers who are secretly scheming, even at this very moment. I'd probably still been scheming had I not given my life to Jesus and renewed my mind to His word and ways!

As I began to learn the Bible, God's word made it clear that scheming was bad. I could see biblical figures scheming because they did not or would not ask for God’s help, or if they did, they weren’t patient enough or lacked the faith to believe that God would help them and so they made their own plan that they knew in their heart, was not integrous.

Scheming will subtly lead you away from God. It's like you have to turn of the light switch to God so that you can pursue things your own way and not feel guilty about it. Scheming will hurt or destroy your ability to be sensitive to God’s voice. It will destroy the timing of God's will for what He does want for us in our life. It will also hinder from ever learning the character development of trusting God—something critical to ever receiving the fullness of blessing that God so desperately wants us to have in life.

Proverbs helps us see the person that won’t trust or listen to God and ends up scheming. Proverbs 1:30-31 NLT says, "Since they would not accept My advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes." Then Proverbs 24:8 NIV says, "He who plots evil will be known as a schemer."

I know that when we want something, our flesh does not like to wait. But that is part of the work that God wants to do in us. God tells us to forget about those that do cheat or scheme to get their own way. Instead wait on Him.

I know we live in an evil world and sometimes we are tempted to compromise our integrity to keep up with others that scheme. It's also easy to believe that cheaters have an advantage. They don't. In the end, it will catch up with them. So, don’t be that person! God has a higher way! Matt 5:8 NIV says, "Blessed are the pure in heart (motive and purpose) for they shall see God (and understand His ways.") And Proverbs 22:11 NIV says, "Anyone who loves a pure heart and gracious speech is the king's friend." Be pure in heart! When you feel that check in your heart, find out why—especially if it has to do with integrity! Ask and pray and then learn to God's timing. Over time as you look back, you will see that He often gave you better that you imagined doing things His way. The high road is the only road to take!

Jeremiah 17:7 (NIV) "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him."

In His love,
Pastor Tim Burt

An Inspirational Story of How We Perceive Things

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

PERCEPTION: Something To Think About

Mark 4:12 (NLT) ...They see what I do, but they don't perceive its meaning. They hear my words, but they don't understand. So they will not turn from their sins and be forgiven.

In a Washington, D.C. Metro station on a cold January morning in 2007, a man with a violin played six Bach pieces. During his performance approximately two thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes after the young man began playing a middle aged man slowed his pace and turned to look at the musician, but kept on walking.

Half a minutes later the violinist received his first dollar; a woman threw the money in the hat without stopping.

Not until six minutes into the performance did someone actually stand against a wall and listen.

A three-year old boy tried to stop and listen but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped and looked at the violinist again, but the mother pushed harder and the child continued to walk, turning his head to look at the musician as he walked away. This action was repeated by several other children; parents, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly.

In the forty-three minutes that the violinist played, seven people stopped what they were doing to take in the performance. Twenty-seven gave money – most of them on the run – for a total of $32 and change. The remaining 1,070 people hurried by, oblivious to the music, few even turning to look. As he finished playing, silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded. He received no recognition.

The violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played some of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days prior, Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the Metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste, and people’s priorities.

In a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made, how many other things are we missing in life?

Making Your Emotions Work for You!

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

Renee and I have been married for 41 years. We have an awesome marriage. As newlyweds, we were young and immature—downright childish at times. The result: arguing, fighting, and anger that happened far too frequently. We survived because we knew we loved each other, and loved God even more. That made nothing easy. It just kept us from quitting! We were committed to learning how to love and communicate with each other. We learned that the key to communication that works is respect! When we learned to speak to each other with respect, listen to each other, stick to the issues we had to work through, and most importantly, treat each other with respect at all times, we had the breakthrough that took our marriage to a wonderful place.

I'm not writing about marriage this morning, but about respect! Respect is what keeps the very real emotions of hatred and anger in check so that we use them the way God intended. First, hate is an emotion, not given to point toward people but toward Satan. Come to understand this in your emotions and thinking and I promise you, you will mature!

Romans 12:9 NIV says, “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” When the Bible says, "Hate what is evil," it means toward Satan and all his devices, and evil things, but not people! Hatred is not to be aimed toward one another. To the contrary, in many scriptures we are exhorted to “get along,” “to forgive one another,” “to work things out.” These are mandates with which Jesus said, “But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father (in Heaven) will not forgive your sins.” (Matthew 6:15 NLT)

The Apostle Paul also taught us that in general, we need to recognize that it’s not people that we are battling, but demonic spiritual forces in the background that work to get people to fight and destroy each other. Ephesians 6:10-12 NLT says, “A final word: Be strong in the Lord and His mighty power. Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.”

You man not understand how Satan and powers of darkness work, but you do at least need to understand that they are real and that because He hates God and all of His creation, Satan and his forces work to destroy any and everything that is good. We are to oppose evil and wickedness and work to overcome it. Romans 12:21 NLT instructs and exhorts us, "Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good." In other words, by behaving in the good way that would normally not be expected when evil happens to you! When we are in a position of seeing evil that we should oppose, the emotions of hatred or anger can fuel us to do so, but we need to exercise that energy in a godly fashion.

Evil is opposed in many different ways and at many different levels. In war, evil is opposed militarily with strategies and weapons of warfare. At the level of street crime, evil is opposed by different forms of police and government law enforcement agencies. In our day-to-day lives we are to oppose evil or wrong, but never outside the boundaries of respect.

I recently received a letter from a friend of mine, a Christian who manages complaint letters within a large corporation that sells retail products. He was telling me that many of the letters he receives are written by those that have somehow identified themselves as Christians, and yet their letters and emails are completely outside the boundaries of respect and Christian representation. Their comments contained cursing, were mean-spirited, rude or sarcastic, and worse. You couldn’t find a trace of Christ-like attitude in them.

Voicing disapproval is one way we oppose evil, but respect is crucial to a Christian witness and attitude. 2 Tim. 2:24-26 says it like this: “The Lord's servants must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone. They must be able to teach effectively and be patient with difficult people. They should gently teach those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people's hearts, and they will believe the truth. Then they will come to their senses…”

We are the representatives of Jesus in the earth. That is a huge responsibility and one we’ll make many mistakes in. But what helps me get this more right than wrong, is remembering that anger can destroy in a minute, but ultimately, “love never fails.”

1 Cor. 13:8 (NIV) “Love never fails…”

Part Two: Regarding God's Master Plan For Your Life

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

If you didn't get to read Part One: Regarding God's Master Plan for Your Life, then click on this link and start there!

God is love. We are received and adopted into His family through faith in Jesus as our Savior. God's motivation for restoring us to Himself is love and His desire to lead us into a life of blessing and peace! Trust me, I know this is a world of turmoil, pain, and sadness, but God's master plan is to walk us through that darkness as we put all our faith in Him and trust the unbreakable promises He has made to those who believe! Psalm 23:4 (NKJV) "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me."

These verses from Isaiah 46:9-11 (NLT) point out the fact that He indeed has a master plan. “And do not forget the things I have done throughout history. For I am God—I alone! I am God, and there is no one else like me. Only I can tell you what is going to happen even before it happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish. I will call a swift bird of prey from the east—a leader from a distant land who will come and do my bidding. I have said I would do it, and I will.”

From the beginning, the darkness that mankind has experienced has been a result of the choice to sin and live outside of God's will. God has never been the problem. He is the solution! The defilement of sin has touched everything on the planet and the curse of it reaches into our lives. Jesus warned us that we would always see two forces at work in the earthHis for good and Satan’s for the spoiling and destruction over everything God ever created. Jesus said “The thief (Satan) does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10 NKJV)

You couldn’t possibly see the behind the scenes of how God is moving throughout all the earth. In more ways that we could ever know, He reaches out to us. When we begin to pay attention, we hear Him crying out. He is inviting us to first become His children, and then His ambassadorsvessels of His touch and love to others. This is a part of His master plan for all mankind. 2 Cor. 5:19-20 NLT says, “…God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation (sharing the good news with others.) Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.”  Obviously not everyone will walk in this yet it because they will choose not to. But, this is His master plan at work and He implores you and I to be a part of it in anyway we can.

As I said, His plan continuously reaches out and into the lives of people throughout the earth. It is His will that we receive this as our a part of our calling as Christians and a part of His master plan in the earth. And please, don’t think that His master plan is exclusive of the personal plan for you life. Every detail of your life plays into that master plan when you trust Him. And He wants to bring blessing to the details of your life. As you read through the Bible, you continuously see God reveal His desire to bless His saints. His master plan is to bless you as you walk in His plan. What you see God say in Psalm 115:13-16 is what you see Him say throughout the Bible. “He will bless those who fear the Lord, both small and great. May the Lord give you increase more and more, you and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth. The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord's; but the earth He has given to the children of men.”

How do we discover and enter into God’s master plan? You enter into the perfect will of God for your life by cooperating and helping to fulfill His master plan of bringing the love of Jesus to all. I have written how that can happen many times in the past. We can touch others with His love in countless ways. They all contribute to the seed of Jesus and His love being planted in their heart so that at that at some point in their life, they can yield to the desire to come to know Him. When you seek to fulfill His plan, you enter into the perfect will of God for your own life. God is blessed by this, you are blessed by this, and the lives around you will be blessed by His presence touching their lives through you. He will lead you step-by-step. Your awareness and participation are especially enhanced by giving yourself over to spending time in His word and prayer.

The Bible reveals that David was a man after God’s own heart and Daniel was a man whom God said was precious to Him. They and many others cared about what God cared about. Consequently, they walked in the Lord’s favor and experienced His grace which is His supernatural help and blessing through every storm and trial that emerged in their lives. We constantly hear David seek God and the path he should walk as in Psalm 25:4 AMP “Show me the path where I should walk O Lord; point out the right road for me to follow." And Psalm 119:33 NKJV “Direct my steps by Your Word…”

God will lead you but you will have to have faith and trust that as you seek Him, He is always leading you. He will speak to you as you read His Word. He’ll also speak to you through others such as through your Pastor's preaching, or Bible Studies, or devotional studies such as this. God will speak to you through like-minded Christians that are on the same page as you. He guides you in many ways as revealed in Psalm 32:8. (NLT) “The Lord says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

People that really love God, seek God and care about His master plan and perfect will for their life. They work together to fulfill it knowing that as they do, He cares about every detail of their life. Seek Him and align your life with His will and watch Him guide you into His master plan for your life. Do this and as you will one day look back in hindsight and say, "God's hand has been on every part of my life. His master plan will continually unfold throughout the months and years of your life. And you'll be so thankful for it!

Psalm 119:105 NKJV says, "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”

In His love,
Pastor Tim Burt

Part One: Regarding God's Master Plan For Your Life

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

God has a master plan for our life. He has had a master plan for every human being that has ever lived on planet earth. Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." People often say things like, Well if this is God's master plan, He apparently doesn't have a clue about what He's doing! That always makes me cringe when people say something this arrogant, but they are simply ignorant of the things of God and I understand where they are coming from.

The world is dark. People think God should manipulate all things, stop all evil, and make everything good. But if He did, we wouldn't be free. We'd be robots never able to make our own choices.  We wouldn't have the option of choosing love or hate, forgiveness or bitterness, serving one another or being narcissistic. Some would respond great! But they would only say that because they don't understand how that would have changed life. Angels don't have the choices we have. They were not created like us. They have to do what God directs them to. God's word says that we have it better! In our next life we will be ruling over the angels of God. We get to pick good over darkness and love over hate. God lets us make our own choices but helps us understand the wrong choices hurt us and mankind. And for this reason, we live in a dark world. We've created this dark world―not God! He gives every individual the opportunity to seek and experience Him.  I know that could raise a thousand questions but He would answer them for you one-by-one if you sought Him regarding it through His word and prayer. Right now, you may not fully understand how but it's still the truth!

So getting back to God's master plan, He has always had one for you. He knows and has always known what His plan for you is. It's His desire that we seek Him and learn to follow His Word and ways. It is through obedience to His Word and through prayer, that He leads us in His plan for our life. He never reveals all of it to us, but instead, directs our steps so that it unfolds around us day-by-day as we live for Him. He also directs our heart by placing godly desires within us that draw us down the road toward His will. Psalm 37:4 (NLT2) says, "Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires."

Regarding God's master plan, one of the most mind-blowing truths that is impossible for people to wrap their minds around, is that God has had a plan for every single person that has lived on this planet before He ever created the world.  That thought is mind-blowing but true! And that plan was about us discovering Jesus and what He did for us, leading us to receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We see this in Ephesians 1:4 (NLT2) says, "Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes." Think about that! Meditate on this verse. God always wanted you to find and discover Jesus. It is part of His master plan for you! He has been trying to influence―not manipulate that to happen in your life since the minute you were born! You have to read this verse over and over until this truth becomes a revelation to you!  But Pastor Tim, what about the part of being holy and without fault. I've never been able to achieve that no matter how much I want to! How could I possibly be without fault in God's eyes?

We become "without fault" through the precious blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross for each one of us. It is because of what Jesus did, we become blameless in God's eyes, not because of our own holiness! We strive for holiness but none of us can ever perfectly get to that place. We needed Jesus to do it for us! We aren't holy and blameless in our own eyes but that helps us work on it throughout our lifetime. We are holy in blameless in His eyes and that's His doing for our sakes. Talk about love! That's the depth of His love and where His master plan for our life begins!

There is much more to tell you but if I continued, this would be too long for a Fresh Manna and so I'll continue with Part Two next time.

For today, just meditate on this incomprehensible love that God makes us holy and blameless in His sight so that we can live our life for Him knowing just how imperfect we are! What a love that is!
Next time, Part Two...

In His love,
Pastor Tim Burt
