God is Working Mightily Behind the Scenes!

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

If you watched and listened to the news often, you would think the world is horrible and getting worse. No, the truth is, God is working mightily in the earth and His grace, mercy and good news is always working behind the scenes. The gospel is being preached but, it is also the goodness of God that draws men to repentance.  Goodness is happening, even in the midst of evil. As you watch this short video, you'll see just how much God is helping our world! So, don't let the enemy draw you into despair. Lift up your head, pray, and thank God He is answering your prayer and working in the midst of the demonic work of the enemy. Those that know God will see this truth!

Psalms 136:2 & 6 (NKJV) "Oh, give thanks to the God of gods! For His mercy endures forever. Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven! For His mercy endures forever."

God's Miraculous Help in Our Lives!

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

Renee and I would tell you that Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV) has been a foundational verse in our life. It says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” I learned that verse early on in my Christian walk and it greatly helped my faith.

At that time, I was a young man and a young Christian. I had a beautiful wife I believed God hand-picked for me as a gift, and four beautiful young children each just two years apart. I remember feeling like the richest man in the world! Was that because I had a lot of money? Not at all! We were financially poor at that time. But I felt rich because I always dreamed of being a husband and father and now I was living it!

We all loved each other and enjoyed life together. We had no extra money. None!  We could barely pay our bills. But our life wasn't about money. It was about our love for God, our love for each other, and trying to bring God’s love to this world. That was what mattered. But we, like anyone else, did face the financial obligations and needs that everyone else did. And the cares of them would often try to get into our heads and thought-life and bring us down. But as often as that happened, to the very best of our ability we would try to practice 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) that said, "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you." When the devil tried to build fear through cares, we would carry then right back to the throne of God and lay that at Jesus feet, daily!

I worked hard to provide for our family and Renee worked hard to make our home and family atmosphere special and fun. But, we could have felt as overwhelmed as anyone over all the thoughts and cares that presented themselves.

One day we were watching a children’s video called "Gospel Bill" with our kids. These videos were produced by Willie George—one of the best Pastors and children's Pastors in the country. The videos had a bad guy character called El Diablo. He would often knock on Gospel Bill’s door. Gospel Bill was a sheriff and El Diablo was a villain that never talked. When Gospel Bill heard the knock on the door and opened it, El Diablo stood there carrying all these packages that he would try to hand over to Gospel Bill. One was marked, Cares and another was marked Worries.  Another was marked Sickness and another Disease. Another was marked Lack and another Poverty. He was trying to get Gospel Bill to take these packages but he wouldn’t receive them! He told El Diablo to take them back—that those weren’t gifts and especially for God’s children!

That children's video helped me tremendously! I made the picture so clear. Satan is the author of these things and we needed to reject them in our life! Renee and I and the kids got it! We would learn to reject every care and worry and fear that would present itself. We would reject them and lay them at the feet of Jesus. He died to carry and take them for us. Galatians 3:13 NLT made that clear! “But Christ has rescued us... When Jesus hung on the cross, He took upon Himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."

Those packages represented the curse of what is in this earth through sin. We're told here that Jesus took that curse upon Himself to redeem us from it! As a family, we made the faith-filled decision to believe God's Word. We weren't cursed. We were blessed! Jesus died and paid the price so that we could be! It was spelled out for us in Galatians 3:29 (NLT). “And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and now all the promises (blessings) God gave to him belong to you.”

When our family was young, it was normal for me to wonder, God, how is this all going to work out? How am I going to afford to put them through school, and braces, and clothes, and college and on and on? I’d think, I’m not smart enough or skilled enough to provide for my family. The Lord would remind me to lay those cares at the altar and remember that Jesus gave His life so we could expect His blessing and help. And again. this is where we learned to love and embrace Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV). “Now to Him (Jesus) who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us…”

“The power that works in us” is our faith in the fact that Jesus intimately loves and cares for us and desires to help in every step of our life. I don’t know about you, but I never stop being dependent upon Him. I need His help every day! I have that precious promise that He will do “exceedingly abundantly above all that I can ask or think,” if I hold on to my child-like faith.

As we look back, God has truly gone far beyond what we ever imagined or could have asked. We are so thankful to Him! Not just for helping and taking care of us, but for allowing us to know Him and have this place of faith where we could cast our cares and trust Him. His Word is so rich with His promise and love to us. He is such an intimate and loving God. And that is why to this day, we cast our cares unto Him and trust He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all what we can ask or think, according to the power that works in us!

In His Love,
Pastor Tim Burt

A Special Message from Pastor Tim to You

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

A Special Message From Me to You!

I would like to share with you a change I am making regarding Fresh Manna. If you appreciate my efforts in writing to you for all these years, then please do me this one favor. Read this an keep and open heart! Thank you in advance for that.

I hope one of the reasons you are reading this is because you have been blessed by my Fresh Manna. If you don't know who I am or much about me, I encourage you to read my "About Me" page. I have been writing this blog since the year 2000. As of December 2015, I will have written four times a week for the past 15 years. In all that time, I have never had a donate button on my site nor have I ever asked for a penny. To the contrary, I have not wanted to receive anything, but only to give.

I am a Pastor, and this was a way for me to reach beyond the four walls of the church and to touch the heart of others with the teaching, love, and grace of Jesus Christ. I had no idea that it would evolve to the point it has today. For the past three years, Fresh Manna has been read in over 196 countries. I have people write me daily with their thanks, their kind words and their problems.

I've responded to almost every one in the past 15 years. I began using Twitter in 2008, to again increase reaching more people with the love of Jesus, and I now have over 112,000 followers who each have their own follower base. My tweets on Twitter, which are almost exclusively about the love of God, are re-tweeted (re-sent out by others) thereby reaching 2 to 4 million people virally. Those who follow me on Twitter also communicate with me and often ask for prayer or guidance. I also respond to almost every one of those people. Needless to say, this has become a labor of love which I have adjusted my life to accommodate. I gave up Marathon running to free up hours of daily running so that I could do this. It has been well worth it.

As I continue to find ways to reach people, there have been increasing expenses which I have always paid for. Your donation will continue to help me write and expand the publication of Fresh Manna on the web. It will also pay for the cost of sending the email subscriptions that currently are and always will be free to Fresh Manna readers.

We now have children on the mission field in the third world country of Peru and want to do more to support them in their amazing work. They are impacting thousands there in variety of impacting ways. They also help an orphanage in Peru that takes in fully disabled children of parents who don't know how nor have the resources to care for them. The donations that come into our ministry will be used for these outreaches. I will take no salary of any kind for myself and will only cover the nominal costs of the fees for this blog, PayPal, and other very small administrative fees. The rest will be fully used on the mission field.

I pray that my posts been a blessing to you. I know they are to many which is the reason this blog has grown to the level it has. Many people over the years have asked if they could donate. Some have said they didn't have a home church to tithe to and wanted to send it to me. Others wanted to send in donations to help further my work of getting Fresh Manna to the world. So after 15 years of kindly thanking them but turning all but a few down (who just mailed it to me without asking),  I will no longer do so. I will receive and put to work the donations you would like to send in. This is a non-profit ministry, and your donations are tax-deductible according to the laws of your country.

The Christmas Season is here and if you do end-of-the-year giving and would like to donate to our efforts, just click on the donate button on my home page. It's very simple to do. I assure you that no gift is too small or too big! You will immediately be emailed a receipt for your giving. We want to sincerely thank you for any gift you may make. Please know that God's Word promises that even the smallest effort from the heart, to touch and bless the life of another, will not go unrewarded. Thank you and God bless you.

Matthew 10:42 (NKJV) “And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”

In His Love,
Pastor Tim and Renee Burt

The Empowering Cycle of God's Love

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

God loves us so very much that it’s beyond our ability to comprehend it without the help of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit not only helps us see life through God's eyes, but reveals the magnitude of His love which is beyond human comprehension. Imagine love perfectly pure in judgment, faithfulness, and motivation—directed at you!

The Apostle Paul expressed it being so great that we needed to pray to ask the Lord to help us grasp the magnitude of God's love toward us! Ephesians 3:18-19 (NLT)  "And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God."

Jesus is the manifestation of that love. What He did for you had and has the potential to help you live the purpose-filled life and destiny that He created you to experience.

Renee and I are empty-nesters. Our children are all adults, married with children. So, in this season of life we've made changes we couldn't make when we had our kids at home. One of them is to get up early most every morning and go for a 2-3 mile walk. We start out talking and catching up on our previous day, and then we pray together while we walk. We start off every prayer-time simply thanking the Lord for leading us into this wonderful habit of walking and spending time with Him. We thank Him for the beauty of nature around us—no matter what the season is we are in. Each season has its own display of beauty. We then thank God for things we are so thankful and appreciative for. In just doing that, it seems to lift our heart.

We are very busy people and have exhausting days. It would be easy to become overwhelmed with the demands on our life. We have learned that in those moments of taking in the beauty and splendor of what God has created, and in thanking the Lord for His goodness toward us, the Holy Spirit opens the eyes of our heart to see even more. The more we do see His goodness in our life and thank Him for it, the more His goodness and help becomes visible! The Holy Spirit helps us see God's hand of help on all that we are doing. That only builds our faith and trust in Him and opens the door for more!

Every time the eyes of my heart are open to see His goodness in my life, something instantly happens. I feel humbled knowing how undeserving I am of anything from Him. I know it isn’t about what I deserve, yet I find myself wishing I was more deserving of His love for me. In these times, it makes me want to repent of any and everything in my heart and life that is less than what I should be returning to the Lord in love and obedience. His goodness has that effect on me. Romans 2:4 (NLT) says, "Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?"

The Apostle Paul said this was one of the results that should happen from God’s goodness touching our lives.

In the big picture, loving and appreciating God's love toward us through Jesus is something powerful to meditate on. It will open your eyes to see more of His love. It will help you see how involved He is in your life, And it will humble you which in turn motivates you to return your love to Him through a more pure life in Christ.  It is a wonderful cycle of love that is full of insight, blessing & God's power!

Psalm 103:1-5 (NIV) “Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.”

Commitment Produces Marvelous Blessings

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

From 1977 until about 1993, I had been running 12 mile runs frequently and had a regular early morning routine of  3-5 mile runs with a Pastor friend of mine.We both loved to run and pray together so we got up very early about four times a week. Those were precious days.

Then one day another Pastor friend of ours approached us and said, Hey, I’ve decided I am going to train for and run a marathon. Why don’t you guys join me? You both like to run. I asked him, How far is a marathon? He told me, 26.2 miles.  I thought he was crazy, but then couldn’t stop thinking about it. Hmm! I began to pray about it and talk it over with Renee. There didn’t seem to be any obstacles other than managing the time to run which I already was with my current running routine, so I agreed as did my friend. But neither of us knew what we were agreeing to. Almost nothing has stretched my disciplines, my character, and my commitment level as this did. We ran the marathon that Fall and then four more over the next four years. It changed my life forever in the most positive way.
I knew it would help me get in the best shape of my life—not a bad thing to do at the age of 40. I already enjoyed running but this would give me even more time to pray.

I am now 62 years old. I had found myself thinking a great deal about training for a marathon again. To be honest, I’m wasn't sure if it was a good idea. The physical and time commitment of training would be high and I’d have to train for the next 9 months to do it. The time commitment is intense and there are a many other ways I could use that time. I wasn't sure if this was what the Lord wanted. What I was sure of, was this had been rolling around in me for a while and I had started to pay greater attention to the thought of doing it.

One night I said to Renee, would you like to go on an early morning walk tomorrow? She said sure. We loved it and did it again. And then again. I realized that God used the thoughts of a marathon to spur me forward, only it was for walking with Renee—not a marathon. We both came to the conclusion that it was God that led us into this new adventure. BUT, winter weather was coming up. Could we commit to this regardless of the weather or would this soon fizzle as we flip-flopped on bad weather days. We were both positive that the Lord orchestrated it and felt we needed to set the commitment. We both went out and bought the foul-weather gear we needed so that we would go out regardless of the changing weather—rain, sunshine or snow.

Commitment is what makes all the difference. It’s where you stop flip-flopping and make the decision God is stirring you to. Commitment moves you forward. Wavering is a curse. It leaves you in the land of indecision. Too many God-given desires are pondered to death! Indecision keeps your life from moving forward. It often steals from any kind of destiny that might otherwise come through commitment. When people wonder about but never commit their life to Jesus, they are tossed through life as described in Ephesians 4:14 TLB  “…forever changing their minds about what they believe because someone has told them something different…”

When people don’t make commitments about things they know they need to do, they waver, are tossed around in indecision, and flounder. James 1:5-8 “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does."

What is God asking you to commit to?  Going to church? Giving your life back to Him? Reading your Bible? Being a better spouse or parent. Whatever it is, make the commitment and move forward in the grace of God. He will help you. You will discover that commitment produces marvelous blessings in your life. You will never regret it!

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”

In His Love,
Pastor Tim Burt

This Entire Gift is for You!

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

Is your birthday on the horizon? If it is, you may be receiving a birthday gift from someone. Imagine someone hands you this beautifully wrapped present and you take it and just set it on the counter without opening it. Because you didn't, you never found out what it was, nor thanked the person for it. I would call that a lose/lose situation because you’d never received the gift they gave you and they’d never receive the full joy of seeing you be blessed by it.
God gave us the most precious of all gifts—Jesus! Some parts of what Jesus did for you, you have received. Other parts of this gift, you’ve really not understood or received the benefit of. They are still sitting wrapped in the box! You may know and understand that Jesus died for all your sins. You may understand that He has given you eternal life—the promise of Heaven as your home living in His presence for all eternity. What you might not understand is the power in His grace to help you here in this life, now!

Imagine that Titus 2:11 (NLT) is a part of the gift in your box. It says, “For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.” You read that verse and you catch the salvation part and you think you know what that means, but you just kind of skate over the grace part, leaving it in the box. That little word “grace” is so miraculously powerful! The word “grace” literally means this: God’s gift of divine influence upon your heart that helps you see how His ways will benefit your life, make life pleasurable, and bring you great joy! That one little word “grace” means all that! So you could read this verse from Titus like this: “For God’s gift of divine influence upon your heart that helps you see how His ways benefit your life, make life pleasurable, and bring you great joy, HAS BEEN REVEALED, bringing this great salvation to all people.” Unless you understand grace that way, you are leaving part of this gift in the box undiscovered.

Salvation is more than just being forgiven and receiving eternal life. It’s about receiving the most powerful influence needed to live a godly life here and now—God’s divine influence upon your heart. His influence upon your heart is a miraculously powerful life-changing influence. It changes how you see things. It changes your attitude. It empowers your inner strength to do good and overcome evil! It fills your heart with love and thanksgiving for God.

Now Titus reveals to that this “grace” can help us navigate this evil world with great help and power as we let God’s influence upon our heart be greater than the ungodly influences of the world around us. Titus 2:12 continues saying, “And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with self-control, right conduct, and devotion to God.” It is God’s grace—His divine influence upon our heart—that empowers us to turn from godless ways and instead do things His way with great joy!"

Then Titus 2:13-14 finishes this thought, helping us not just to look forward to Heaven, but to live victoriously in the only true kind of freedom that exists in this world—freedom from sin through the gift of grace. It is this way that makes life pleasurable and brings joy! He says this: “…while we look forward to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave His life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own people, totally committed to doing what is right.”

This all comes back to His empowering grace that God has made available to you. Embrace His divine influence upon your heart that sets you free to live for Him in victory today!

1 John 4:4 (NKJV) "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."

In His love,
Pastor Tim Burt

A Winning Marriage Secret: God's Kind of Love

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

Renee and I are deeply in love and have a wonderful marriage. It wasn't always that way.

I remember a time early on in our marriage. One morning I was praying to the Lord about His faithfulness. I was praying these words, Lord, you are faithful and so full of love! You have never stopped loving us even though we have not treated you with the love you have faithfully shown us. Jesus, thank you for leaving Heaven, being born into this defiled world, living a sinless life, dying a sinner's death to pay for the punishment for my sins, and doing all this when I was so self-absorbed, I wasn't even thinking about you. You loved us even when we didn't treat you right and didn't love you back. As soon as I said those words, God used them to speak back to me concerning my marriage. "Yes I did love you when you weren't loving me back." The first years of our marriage were full of highs and lows. This conversation with God was going on at a time when we were at an all-time low. I know we were both feeling like we didn't love or like each other anymore. I knew the Lord was ministering to me about the marital issues Renee and I had been having at that time. I knew He wanted me to love Renee with that kind of faithful love I just declared the Lord had shown toward us.
He said,

I was exhausted trying to make our marriage work the way I felt it should work. We were selfish and prideful. We were immature and still needing to learn what real love—God's kind of love was. We constantly butted heads. We were both always trying to defend our position and make each other conform to what we wanted. Each of us was bent on being right. Now the Lord was speaking to me about laying down everything I felt I had to make a stand on to be a man.

The Lord was speaking to me about loving her the way she wanted to be loved. I wanted our marriage to be forever. I wanted to love Renee, and I wanted our marriage to work. Because of what the Lord spoke to my heart, I went to her and asked her to tell me everything she needed me to do that would help her feel better about our relationship. I told her to let me know of EVERYTHING that I did that bugged her and the things she thought would help turn our marriage around. It wasn't easy. Actually it was painful because I wanted to defend myself while she was talking. I felt that some of what she saying were her issues. Regardless, because I kept thinking about the Lord's faithful love, I kept my mouth shut (a miracle in itself.) This was no time to split hairs. I was going to do whatever it took to help turn things around.

There were two core values I was going to hold on to. First, it takes two to fight. With the help of the grace of God, I was going to bridle my tongue. God spoke to me and said, It takes two to fight. Refuse to fight!  Proverbs 26:20 (NLT) says, "Fire goes out without wood, and quarrels disappear..."  Secondly, I was going to be agreeable.  Amos 3:3 (NKJV) says, "Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?" With these two things in mind, I went at it with an effort and fervor like nothing I had ever done before. I was going to stop everything that bugged her and help her with everything that would bless her.

It's funny but it didn't take that long to turn things around. The arguments began to stop and some of the word wounds we'd both left from previous verbal attacks began to heal. We both became less touchy about things. I continued to go out of my way to be kind to her. It wasn't long before she saw the sincere effort I was making and kicked in with a renewed diligent effort of her own.

With both of us working at it, the results were nothing less than miraculous! We liked AND loved each other again! We were both amazed at how things did such a complete turn in just a few months. Our marriage suddenly felt awesome. God was so gracious to speak those simple words that carried so much power—Yes I did love you when you weren't loving me back.

From that time forward, we made the determined choice to be careful in how we talked to each other. I no longer poked fun at her in public embarrassing her. I worked to stop and look at her when she was talking to me. She became more considerate at her timing in our conversations. There was a multitude of ways we communicated better—especially in being kind in our attitudes. Since that time, we have made kind and considerate communication our top priority. We value our marriage more than anything except our relationship with the Lord. Plus, we felt we had to be this way if we wanted to be the light and influence we knew God wanted us to be.

I have told you this because life is full times where you are called to do the right thing whether you have the emotional impetus to do it or not. We are to be led by faith in what God instructs us, not be feelings. That's what Jesus did. He loved us when we did not love Him back! When the Bible says, "We live by faith, not by sight," (2 Cor 5:7) this is what it is talking about. There are times where we have to get our emotions or the circumstances that we face out of the picture and master our decisions and actions by what we know God wants us to do. Romans 12:17 (NLT) says, "Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable."

When we do what's right and honorable whether we feel like it or not, God can bless us in ways that we would have never imagined. Jesus knows this kind of sacrifice. He lived it all His earthly life. Remember it was He who said, "Father, if it is possible, please let this cup pass from me." Sometimes there are things we just need to do because of what God wants us to do whether we feel like it or not. Be blessed because you become a doer of what is right and good despite how you feel!

Matthew 19:26 (NKJV) "But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

In His Love,

A Warm and Inspiring Story: Woody's Biggest Fan

Fresh Manna

The Road to God's Forgiveness and Salvation, and the Gift of Heaven

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

I have written this today because I do not want to take for granted that all my readers know that Heaven is a gift you can't earn. I still talk with may who are trying to earn their way there. Although God wants you to live Christ-like, Heaven is a gift of His grace. Hopefully if you read this and look through these verses in your own Bible, you'll come to know that you are going there when you die!

The Road to God's Forgiveness and Salvation and the Gift of Heaven

IF you should die today are you 100% sure - sure beyond the shadow of a doubt that you would go to heaven? If you feel you can say yes, please read on.

IF you should die and stand before God and He asked you why He should let you into Heaven, what would you say?

If your answer is, "I am sure I would go to Heaven because I have tried to be a good person," it's the wrong answer so please read on.

Salvation or the gift of eternal life cannot be earned. To have earned it, you would have had to live your life without ever sinning—something that no man except Jesus Christ the Son of God has ever done. This gift of the forgiveness of our sins, the gift of eternal life called salvation is just that—a gift. It can't be earned. Like any gift, it's free and only has to be received.

The following verses help you see these glorious and eternal promises and truths

We can know - not hope - that we have eternal life!
I John 5:13 "That these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."

No one has been able to live a sinless life
Romans 3:10 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one."
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"

Sin has touched every human being's life.
Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"

We deserve punishment for our sins but Jesus offers us the free gift of eternal life.
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

God isn't waiting for us to get cleaned up first.  He'll help us with that. He accepts us while we are still sinners, so there is no sense in putting it off!
Romans 5:8 "But God commendedth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Faith in Jesus Christ, and the receiving of the gift of salvation, is initiated by believing in our hearts and saying what we believe to God first, and then others.
Romans 10:9-13 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

If we say we haven't sinned, we have lied to ourselves. When we admit that we have, God is faithful to continually cleanse us.
1 John 1:8-10 "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives."

Jesus is waiting for you right now! Don't put it off for a second. Let Him into your life!
Rev 3:20 "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me."

Pray this prayer of Salvation to God from your heart and mean it. If you would like to ask Jesus into your heart now, simply pray this prayer to God and mean if from your heart. A miracle will happen as you pray. You will be forgiven and brought into the family of God.

Pray this Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I do believe that Jesus is your Son. That He came to earth to die from my sins. That He rose again from the dead. Jesus please come into my heart. Please forgive me of all my sins. Please wash them all away. Please come and live in my heart. Please teach me your ways. Please help me to learn and understand your Word. Please give me Christian friends that love you and can help me grow in your Word. Please help me find a church that will teach me the Bible, and help me grow in knowing you. I thank you now in Jesus name, Amen.

I pray you'll continue to read Fresh Manna and learn of God's love toward you!

In His Love,
Pastor Tim Burt

Walking Out Your Destiny in God

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

Have you ever noticed that some people seem to carry an unjustified confidence about everything they think and do—and possibly an ego to match? Confidence is a huge and necessary character quality in life. Without confidence, leaders, athletes, professionals, nor anyone, would rise to the fullness of their potential. Yet confidence is not supposed to be based on vain imagination or inflated ego. Confidence is to be based on a number of factors having to do with knowledge, understanding, ability, skill, and potential. There is one more thing confidence must be built on that is more important that the rest; a revelation of God’s love, purpose, and direction for our lives through His Word.

Pride, ego, and boasting shut God out of one’s life. Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NLT) warns us, "Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!"

Let me tell you a powerful truth. God hates pride. Satan’s original sin was pride. Pride hinders God’s help in our lives.  James 4:6 (NKJV) says, "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble."  Proverbs 14:26 (NKJV) says, “In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence…” The words “strong confidence” literally means “mighty assurance.” What this verse is telling us is that when we put our faith in the promise of God’s Word, we can have mighty assurance or confidence in His grace to help us fulfill our God-given destiny for our life. .

Strong confidence rooted in anything outside of God is nothing more than disguised pride. Pride boasts about what it knows and about what it can do. It boasts about its future and its greatness. James 4:13-16 (NLT) says, “Look here, you people who say, "Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit." How do you know what will happen tomorrow? For your life is like the morning fog—it's here a little while, then it's gone. What you ought to say is, "If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that." Otherwise you will be boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil.

These verses aren’t telling us not to make plans or plan ahead. They are telling us that without praying for God’s guidance and participation in our day-to-day plans, we are on a journey all by our self. Proverbs 16:9 (NLT) says, "We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps."

Proverbs 19:21 (NLT) says “Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.” As a believer in Jesus Christ, we ultimately live our life to fulfill His purposes, not our own. This the most fulfilling and joyful life possible!

God’s word promises that He will provide the desires and direction to guide us in our daily path and destiny. It’s not like you’ll notice it every day. When you are driving down a road that goes straight for many miles, you notice the turns more than you notice the long straight drive. Proverbs 16:3 (NIV) says, “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”

You will never extend your faith in His promise to lead you in your life if you don’t know He has a destiny for you. Once you understand that, then you will need to learn to trust and stand on these promises of God and as you do, over time you will see God’s hand leading you.

You can’t know your future except concerning your salvation and eternal life with Him. But concerning your future, you can have strong confidence that God will lead you step-by-step in your destiny as you trust Him and live for Him. In life, some people have destinies that outwardly seem more profound than others. Jesus modeled that His destiny was not about impressing others, but about being true to whatever His Father led Him to do despite how others felt about it. Likewise, your life is about fulfilling those things that He has called you to do. big things.

Be faithful to the small things! Don’t confuse your livelihood with your destiny. Your livelihood is what you do to provide a living. Your destiny might include your livelihood but it has more to do with how you live out your life for God, and how you influence others toward the plan of God over the course of your life. Again, that isn’t to be measured by someone else’s view of greatness but by obedience in your heart to do what God wants you to do. That could be preaching to the largest congregation in the world. It could also be working with toddlers in Children’s church, or helping Alzheimer’s patients in a nursing home. And being a light for Jesus daily to the world around you! Everyone needs to touch others with the love of Jesus according to their gifting and through the daily steps that create one's destiny.  As you learn to follow the inward leading of God and be faithful to it, you'll eventually have hindsight revealing how God has used, how He is shaping your life, and how He is leading you in His destiny for your life!

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Netanyahu’s Gift to the Palestinians

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu responds to a disgusting gesture with utter class

Netanyahu received an item from the leader of HAMAS. During the recent cease-fire, the leader of the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, Khaled Mashal, sent a “gift”..(actually, it was a gesture of hate and contempt to the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu), in an elaborate box with a note. After having the box checked for safety reasons, Prime Minister Netanyahu opened the box and saw that the content was cow dung.

He opened the note, handwritten in Arabic by Mr. Mashal, which said, “For you and the proud people of the Zionist Entity.”

Mr. Netanyahu, who is literate in Arabic, pondered the note and decided how best to reciprocate. He quickly did so by sending the Hamas leader an equally handsome package, also containing a personal note. Mr. Mashal and the other leaders of Hamas were very surprised to receive the parcel and opened it, very carefully, similarly suspecting that it might contain a bomb. But to their surprise, they saw that it contained a tiny computer chip. The chip was rechargeable with solar energy, had a 1.8 terabyte memory, and could output a 3D hologram display capable of functioning in any type of cellular phone, tablet or laptop. It was one of the world’s most advanced technologies, with a tiny label, stating this item was “Invented and produced in Israel .”

Mr. Netanyahu’s note, personally handwritten in Arabic, Hebrew, French, and English, stated very courteously…

“Every leader can only give the best his people can produce.”

Refuse to Be Desperate and Choose Abundance!

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

“God, please help us – we have so many needs in our life right now!”

Have you ever prayed or felt like praying that? When and if you have, did you pray it out of desperation with little or no faith, or did you pray it with great confidence knowing that He loves you and wants to help you? If you’ve ever felt out there on the edge without provision, you know how desperate the devil would like to make you feel. He works to create fear in this place. Many people in this place become so anxious, their character blows up. Their emotions might be all over the map. They might scream or be mad at any and everyone. They lose all hope and begin to imagine ways and schemes that can get them out of the trouble they are in. And, at this place of weakness, the devil begins to tempt. This is where many people fall prey to discouragement, dropping their guard and yielding to a variety of sins. They slip into darker places of survival mode thinking,  “I’ve got to do whatever it takes to survive” casting aside integrity and appropriateness. They think they have to fix their own problems but that doesn't work out well. And before long, they are looking for sins of comfort and escape.

Proverbs 23:29-35 (NLT) says, “Who has anguish? Who has sorrow? Who is always fighting? Who is always complaining? Who has unnecessary bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? It is the one who spends long hours in the taverns, trying out new drinks. Don't let the sparkle and smooth taste of wine deceive you. For in the end it bites like a poisonous serpent; it stings like a viper. You will see hallucinations, and you will say crazy things. You will stagger like a sailor tossed at sea, clinging to a swaying mast. And you will say, "They hit me, but I didn't feel it. I didn't even know it when they beat me up. When will I wake up so I can have another drink?"

God doesn’t want anyone to fall into this kind of desperation. He hates how alcohol and drugs destroys lives. This is why He makes promises of help – so we lean on Him, not alcohol, drugs, or any other vice as a temporary escape from the fear, worries, and pain. He wants us to learn to lean on Him day-by-day for the wisdom and provision of God promised to His children – to those that love Him and walk with Him.

Does falling to desperation and desperate behaviors that violate what you know is right seem better than learning of and trusting and leaning on God? There is no magic with God. He’s not a wishbone. He's not a genie with three wishes. He won’t magically make problems disappear but you can absolutely be sure that if you stick with Him, He will help you confront every problem and attack of Satan with authority and confidence. You will see Him move in your life in ways that would be hard to describe to people – what you might call little miracles here and there that no one else might notice that make your heart want to praise Him.

I remember a time when Renee and I were in very difficult place financially. We had four young children two years a part in age. She had quit her job and stayed home to raise the kids. That cut our income in half.  I was working full time and trying to build a business. Our finances looked bleak to say the least. We were out of money and didn't even have enough for groceries. We sought God always and prayed through and took comfort in His promises. We prayed them over us. One night I had just put the kids to bed and came downstairs. I found Renee on the living room couch crying. I asked her why she was crying. She said, "We are out of groceries and I have no money to buy more." I reminded her that God promised to help us. We sat on the couch and prayed in faith, "Lord, I know your word says that you have never left those that belong to you, begging for bread. I know you want blessing and abundance for our life – not lack and despair. Please show us where our provision is."

The next morning our doorbell rang. A woman we knew said that God had spoken to her in her prayer time and told her to bring groceries over to us. We stood there in shock and awe! Renee cried happy tears this time. When she left, we praised God for his faithfulness and purposed always to lean on Him, chasing desperation away.  Eventually he helped us get into a much better financial place where that never happened again.

God knows you and knows what you need before you ask, yet He teaches us to ask in prayer. Why? Because our relationship with Him is an act of faith. Your asking in faith is the outworking of that relationship and exercising your trust in Him. Matthew 6:8 says, "…your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask Him!” He is not saying don’t ask. He is saying, Ask in faith! Have a confidence that I hear you and love and care about you and as you ask, know that I am working in your life.” Avoid the temptation of HOW God should answer your prayers but instead just believe in faith. Philip. 4:6-7 says, “Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

1 John 5:14-15 says, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us--whatever we ask--we know that we have what we asked of Him.”
God's Word reveals the love of God and His abundant provision for those that love and seek Him in faith. His will is timeless and eternal and never changing. It is the same yesterday,  today and forever! Though culture evolves and forms of livelihood change, God’s will for you to experience His help with divine provision through faith has never changed.  Take the following verse and transpose it in your mind to your livelihood and efforts to make a living today. Again, the culture may have changed but His heart of desiring to abundantly bless what you put your hand diligently to has not.

Leviticus 26:6-13 “I will give you peace in the land, and you will be able to sleep without fear... "I will look favorably upon you and multiply your people and fulfill my covenant with you. You will have such a surplus of crops that you will need to get rid of the leftovers from the previous year to make room for each new harvest. I will live among you, and I will not despise you. I will walk among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people. I, the Lord, am your God, who brought you from the land of Egypt so you would no longer be slaves. I have lifted the yoke of slavery from your neck so you can walk free with your heads held high."

God doesn’t want you to be a slave to Satan or lack. He wants to help you hold your head high as He teaches you to walk in divine provision!

2 Corinthians 9:8 (NLT)  "And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others."

In His Love,
Pastor Tim Burt
