I Am Israel – the Hope of the Middle East

Fresh Manna by Pastor Tim Burt

In addition to my Pastoral roles at my church, I am also the Minnesota State Director for Christians United for Israel (CUFI). CUFI was birthed in 2006  by Pastor John Hagee and has grown to 1.9 million Christians who support and love Israel. God has drawn His people back to the land he gave them, and they were reestablished as a nation in 1948. This has been one of the great ongoing works God has been doing in the earth over the past half-century. Israel and the Jewish people are a tiny nation 1/19 the size of California and surrounded by 22 Arab nations that are 640 times larger than tiny Israel. Israel is the only Democratic nation in the Middle East and the United States greatest ally.

Israel allows Muslims and Palestinians to live as citizens of Israel - even participating in their government and have more rights than in any other Arab nation. The restrictions any Palestinians face in Israel are only a matter of Israel protecting its people from suicide bombing, efforts of terrorism against Israel, and the smuggling of weapons into Israel to hurt and undermine the nation of Israel.  There have been over 11,000 rockets fired from Gaza at Israeli citizens since 2005.

Would you like to take a simple step in supporting Israel that takes approximately 10 seconds of your time? All you need to do is click on this link to CUFI and join by simply putting in your email address and click JOIN. At the very least, please go to CUFI.com and learn more about Christians United for Israel.

I hope you will watch this short video called "I Am Israel." It is about six minutes long and critical for Christians to watch to understand the truth of Israel's experience.

Please pray for the peace of Israel and the peace of Jerusalem and all her people.

Isaiah 62:1 (NLT) "Because I love Zion, I will not keep still. Because my heart yearns for Jerusalem, I cannot remain silent. I will not stop praying for her until her righteousness shines like the dawn, and her salvation blazes like a burning torch."

America - A Friend to the World

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

The following was sent to me by a Fresh Manna reader. I am reprinting it on election day to remind us of the beautiful heart of those that make up the great nation of America! Christians, please vote for those that uphold the moral standard that is pleasing to God and man!

Psalm 33:12 (NLT) “What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord, whose people he has chosen for his own.”

When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building by George Bush.
He answered by saying, 'Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return. You could have heard a pin drop.

Then there was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break one of the French engineers came back into the room saying 'Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims.

What does he intend to do, bomb them?' A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: 'Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?' You could have heard a pin drop.

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, 'whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English.' He then asked, 'Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?' Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied 'Maybe it's because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German.'

You could have heard a pin drop. A group of Americans, retired teachers, recently went to France on a tour. Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on. "You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked sarcastically. Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously. "Then you should know enough to have your passport ready." The American said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it." "Impossible. Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France!" The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained. "Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find any Frenchmen to show it to."

No matter what anyone else says, America has been a friend to the world and real Americans know that is the truth! Let us pray for and elect godly leaders who passionately love God and our country!

2 Thessalonians 3:2 "And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith."

Change: God Wants to Help You accomplish it!

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

Stop! Get ready! This could be the day of a new beginning for you! Do you believe that's possible? Everything happens on some day. There was a day you were born. You had nothing to do with it. There was a day you started school. There may have been a day you got married or had your first child. There could be hundreds of events that have transpired in your life—all happening on a day. So, why not let today be the day that something new begins in your life?

Maybe you're tired with certain areas of behavior and attitude in your life and are desperate for change. Maybe you've been thinking about things you know you need to change—things the Lord has been dealing with you about but you never seem to get past the thinking about it.

We all know we could be in a better place IF, if we would just change some of the things we've thought about that we know should be changed. The question is, how do you do it? How do you get there?

First it begins by having faith in Jesus as your Savior and then understanding that His word—the Bible, is a letter from Him to you to be discovered. It is a covenant between Him and you as a believer. It is a declaration of His love and will for your life. And it is a book of promises—life-changing promises written to you. It is your source of hope and promise toward the life and blessings He has destined for you.

The Bible is filled with promises just like the one you see in Psalms 145:18.  "The LORD is near unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth (meaning sincerely.")  You might have believed that the Lord was a billion miles away, but the truth is revealed in this promise. The Lord is near to you today! If you call out to Him with expectation to reveal Himself to you somehow. He will through His Word and in other ways!

To make changes in your life and to get to or to get back to a place where you have been close to the Lord, will take a faith-filled decision and action on your part to get there. The faith-filled decision and action will be to pray and seek Him in faith. It will call for repentance if needed, and then receiving the forgiveness by faith that God promises if you need it. Then truly believe He will respond to you because He says He is near.

This simple step can be the beginning of meaningful changes in your life. It could become the beginning of changes in your day-to-day routine or disciplines (or lack of them.) It might be the beginning of spending time with Him in His word and in prayer. It may be the first step in replacing something good with something that steals your time and from your life. I may be the first step to a healthier lifestyle. I remember many years ago I would spend 30 minutes every daily reading a newspaper that only made me feel like I had wasted my time—yet I did it every day. I finally came to the day when I told the Lord I was sorry for wasting those 30 precious minutes every day. I made a change to spending more time in God's word and prayer. I was immediately edified and encouraged and loved that I was spending extra time praying for others. You may already know exactly what the Lord is dealing with you about it. It will take a a faith-filled decision and action on your part to get there!

You may have thought many times about making some particular change in your life but terrified that you just wouldn't be able to do it. After all, hadn't you tried to make changes many times before and failed? What will be different about this time? Trust me when I tell you that these kinds of thoughts are from the pit of Hell. You can do it! God has made His grace (His supernatural help) available to you. His grace is the empowering of your spirit by the Holy Spirit to supply you with what you need to take that step toward change. It may be inner strength. It may be a resource that suddenly shows up at your door. Whatever it is, let God know and stand in faith for it. Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) says, "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Romans 5:2 (KJV) says, "By whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." And Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Renee and I had been talking for over six months about the need to change and develop a consistent exercise routine. We wanted to get some strength-building equipment in our home. We have an elliptical machine but wanted to work on building muscle. We began to pray about it. We could have simply went out and bought something but we like to pray and have God lead us in our purchases whenever it's possible. A few months after we had been praying about this, I get a call from an old friend I hadn't talked to for years. He sells exercise equipment and offered to sell me something at half the cost because I had done a few things for him in the past! We consider that God’s help and blessing!

As you begin to take a bold new step in faith toward changes you know God wants you to make, let your steps become empowered by God's grace. In the story of Joshua taking the people of God into the Promised Land, they came to the Jordan River. God told them to take a step into the river. As soon as they took that first step and touched the water, it parted and let them walk through. Joshua 3:14-16 "When the people set out to cross the Jordan, the priests who were carrying the Ark of the Covenant went ahead of them. Now it was the harvest season, and the Jordan was overflowing its banks. But as soon as the feet of the priests who were carrying the Ark touched the water at the river's edge, the water began backing up and piling up at a town upstream… Then all the people crossed over near the city of Jericho."

Today can be the day for you! You can take that first step in faith and watch God work in your life—the beginning of your new and better place in the Lord as His grace and power continue the good word He has started in you!

Philippians 1:6 (NLT) "I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns."

Called To Do Great and Mighty Things…But What Do I Do Today?

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

Did you know that God wants us to get stirred up and excited to do great things for Him? When we get stirred up, and when we have faith that God will use us in some way to be a blessing to others, then we’ll begin to pay attention to the leading of God’s Holy Spirit. When we desire to be used of God and when we pray and ask Him to use us, then the eyes of our heart will be more attentive and we will catch those moments and opportunities to be used of Him. Most times, what we do for others will go unnoticed by everyone except those whom we help, and God. The Lord always pays attention! The Lord will give you those occasional times where you will be used and it will be noticed by others. We can't live for those moments; because to do so, poisons your motives. We live for seeking to be used to help others as God leads no matter who knows or sees. Then we’ll eventually begin to take risks for doing greater things borne out of a heart motivated by God’s love.

It was this truth that lead me to inventing the commercial infant changing tables you seen in every public bathroom everywhere you go. I had thought about it for three years before I acted on it. One Sunday morning in our church service, the message being preached was about reaching more people for the Lord. Our church was already packed and if we succeeded, we would have to expand our facility to minister to them all. It would take committed hearts and resources. It was at that point that the Lord spoke to me and said I want you to execute the idea that has been stirring in you for the past three years. It will be a blessing to many and provide resources to reach more people for me.  It took five years of hard work from concept to finally watching them be installed in bathrooms all across America. I have young mothers with babies that know I did this, stopping to thank me all the time. I would have never done this had I not believed that the Lord wanted me to do it and spoke to my heart. He did and he stirred me up! This has happened to me again and again. It makes life so exciting! But it started with little acts of obedience and commitment to reach others with God's love.

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) says, “Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things you do not know.” God doesn't show us great and mighty things for kicks, or to inflate our ego with pride about how spiritual we are. He doesn't show us things and stir us into action so that we can chase success only to enjoy the benefits and leave God behind when we attain it. He shows us things so we can ultimately influence and impact lives for His glory, one way or another. That is what we are in this earth for. To be an influence helping others to know and experience the love of Jesus in their lives.

I think most of us have been stirred up and dreamed of doing great things for God at one time or another. That’s a good thing! We are to stir up and provoke one another to do good. We read in 2 Timothy 1:6 (NKJV)  “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you...” And in Hebrews 10:24 “Think of ways to stir up and encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds.” So do you think about and desire to do great and mighty things, yet find yourself thinking, “What do I do today?”

If you had any idea of the power of God that is at work within you trying to get out, you’d be bolder and take more risks. Am I serious when I say that? I am because you see it here in God's Word! Ephesians 3:20 (NLT) "Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think." The power of God is mighty within you but quit looking and thinking about the great things you are going to do in terms of making headlines. That’s about you. That’s pride.

You are surrounded by need—people in desperate places looking for answers, solutions, and help. You have answers. I am not talking about your brilliance or opinions. I am talking about the promises of God found in His Word. The Bible says God’s Word—scripture—is “quick and powerful.” God’s Word carries God’s power—the power to destroy Satan’s lies, discouragements, and attacks coming against someone's life. It has power to produce faith—life-changing faith that alters someone’s thinking and life instantly! If you love the Lord, then you have His Word in your heart and it's a powerful starting place to be great! Just be there for people. Encourage them in God's Word. Pray for them right then and there. Serve people in church and in your daily life as though you were serving God. This is where a pure heart and godly character begin to be shaped within you. And when you are putting God's Word in you, you have it not only to share with others, but you have God speaking to you through His Word to lead you in every aspect of your life! Be faithful in asking God to use you to help others daily and I assure you He will begin to do great things in you!

I was talking to a man who had thrown his life down the toilet. He had been in the military and had killed people in war—accidentally killing civilians. It haunted him until finally his life had disintegrated and left him as a street drunk and druggie. I reached out to him without knowing any of this and in a short time ended up telling him how much God loved him. He didn't believe it. I told him it was true. As much as I tried to convince him, he wouldn't believe me so I pulled out a pocket Bible and showed him verses about God’s love and forgiveness. I had him read them out loud to me. Suddenly I noticed a change. God’s Word began to penetrate what had become a stony heart. With big puppy eyes he looked at me and said, Do you really believe God would forgive me? Yes I said. God promises it in His Word and read it to him again. He prayed and asked Jesus into his heart right then and there. He cried like a baby, was instantly and miraculously sober, gave me a big hug. and wanted to find a church. I helped him with this!

Taking small steps as you are led by God to reach others with His love is where greatness begins. And as I said, this is what gives place for God to shape our motives, our character, and our trust in Him to use us. Bringing the love of God to meet someone’s need is just one way “great and mighty things” get done. This wasn't in the headlines of the local newspaper but I guarantee you it was in the headlines of God’s heart! He is waiting to do great and mighty things through you!

2 Corinthians 9:2 (NIV) "For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year you in Achaia were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action"

True Christianity! It's Not About Me!

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

How glorious it is to discover Jesus Christ and all He has done for us. How even more glorious to be able to receive Him personally as Lord and Savior. For most that choose this experience a radical inward inspectiona cry to God to change to be more like Him and a new perspective on life as the Holy Spirit begins to help them see life through God's eyes.  It is a supernatural experience leading to a new life in Christ. That is exactly what God intended and means in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT) "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!"

I have seen people radically changed like this weekly for the last 31 years. It has always been amazing to see the power of God transform people. This work of God in them is not without their effort, yet happens by the grace of God as a gift. As a new believer cooperates with the Holy Spirit leading them, the Word of God speaking into their life radically changes their thoughts and perspectives and consequently the result is that their life changes. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT) says it like this;  "God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."

I've radically changed since I received Jesus as my Savior in 1977.  I don’t swear any more. I don’t let my mind be filled with garbage. I try to treat people respectfully and kind most of the time. I could go on and on… but that's what people say who don’t know Jesus, that try to justify why they hope they’ll make it into Heaven. So, I won’t say that to you. My personal righteousness is still filthy compared to the Lord’s. I still struggle at times to walk the walk of love that I should. I still sometimes hold back the message of God’s love through Jesus Christ with others because I am too busy going about my day. I’m not always engaged in my heart about what is most important to the Lord. My righteousnessGod seeing me washed from sin is a gift. It opens the door to all blessing in my life. God wants my efforts to be godly in obedience to His will, but I am so thankful for His grace when I get caught up in doing my own thing. My Christianity is not about my wonderful efforts but about His amazing love and grace working in my despite myself.

The Christian life is not about my efforts even though they are important; but about living by faiththe moment-by-moment thinking of Him and crying out to and desperately needing His help and wisdom that He has called us to live by. Galatians 3:11 (NIV) says, "Clearly no one is justified before God by the law (by obeying God's Word perfectly) because, "The righteous will live by faith."

It is by faiththanking Him continually for rescuing usrescuing me from the pit I was in before knowing Himthis all done out of His love and sacrifice of JesusHis life for mine, that He has called us to live. It is by faithembracing His never ending love and help and involvement in our lives and sharing His willingness to help others, that He has called us to love. This is real Christianity and nothing else is! It's not about how good we are although living for the Lord is very important. It's not about our own self-righteousnessan oxymoron in God's world! What Jesus didnot what we do in our own efforts to be good is what true Christianity is! So... Forgive me Lord when I go through the motions of Christianity which becomes dead religion, instead of leaning on and embracing you by faith each day. It is the only acceptable sacrifice you are looking for and the living sacrifice I want to offer to you each day!

Let's get this right. Let's lean on Jesus everyday. Let's cry out for and ask Him again and again to help us find ways to touch others with His love and share the story of God's transforming power at work in all those who truly live by faith!

Romans 12:1-2 (Message Bible) So here is what I want you to do, God helping you: take your everyday ordinary life – your sleeping, your eating, your going-to-work, and walking-around-life – and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don’t become so well adjusted to your culture that you live in it without thinking. Instead fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out.

In His Love,
Pastor Tim Burt

The Time to Support Israel

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

I have written about Israel at different times in the past and the need for every Christian to support Israel and the people as a nation. We recently returned from the 9th Annual CUFI Washington Summit. It was an amazing conference and the timing never ceases to amaze me. We were there just as the Israel/Gaza war broke out. We visited with every Senator and Congressperson's office on Capital to share the need for our nation to support America's greatest ally in the world - Israel. Today's post we written by a friend of mine who came out to Washington. I hope it will enlighten and bless you.

Thoughts on the Christians United for Israel 2014 Annual Washington Summit by Liat Browne

The 2014 Christians United for Israel (CUFI) annual Washington summit was encountered with expectation and excitement as five thousand advocates for Israel gathered from all over the United States, as well as countries around the world. Crowds flocked to the Washington D.C. convention center to listen, learn, and ultimately, lobby for Israel.

This year marks the ninth annual CUFI summit, and yet again—the crowd was not disappointed. The quality and eloquence of each speaker was both remarkable and riveting. Names such as Dennis Prager, Pastor John Hagee, Erick Stackelback, James Woolsey, and Dr. Charles Krauthammer took the stage. Also, despite not being able to address the crowd live this year (due to the situation in Israel), Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recorded a message of gratitude to summit attendees, which aired during the first night of the conference. In addition, several US senators and congressman appeared and wowed the crowd with pro-Israel exhortations and exclamations.
Considering the current circumstances in Israel, the conference couldn't have occurred at a more important time. It was apparent that attendees who felt strongly about their support of Israel upon arrival at the convention center were, indeed, fired up by the time they left. Malcolm Hoenlein, a Jewish guest and speaker at the summit, said it this way: "Even if I wasn’t invited, I would come. I come to get recharged and when I look back to this, I know that we will be okay.”

Upon reading the above, one may ask: “Why should we get recharged for Israel? Why travel across the nation for Israel’s sake? Why should we care? We have our own problems, right?”

Answers to the above questions can come in the form of one simple statement: western civilization is being threatened, and therefore, the liberty and equality we so freely enjoy is at great risk. “Isn't that going a bit far?” one may respond. Without a deeper understanding of the relationship and similarities between America and her greatest ally, Israel, it would seem so. However, in the words of Bill Kristol, summit speaker and editor of the Weekly Standard: “When we fight for Israel, we stand for our own best principles.” In addition to this declaration and to echo its truth, Gary Bauer, President of American Values, reiterated: “The state of Israel is not just an ally to the United States; Israel and America are the two pillars of western civilization.” From these declarations, we begin to understand that the very values our nation was founded upon are being attacked. Though Israel’s battle is not fought on American soil, it is, indeed, an American issue worth fighting for.

To put it simply, America and Israel share a common foundation; they are both instituted upon the Judeo-Christian ethic. Because of this, they fight a shared battle against an enemy who is driven by a different ideology—one of “Holy War” fueled by fanaticism. The common occurrence of our enemies chanting “death to America,” whilst they burn American and Israeli flags in public places proves it to be painfully apparent by their actions and consistently convincing by their own admission, that our enemy sees us (America) as the big Satan and Israel as the little Satan. For this reason, we owe gratitude to Israel for fighting America’s battle on the forefront. They do so with their own soldiers—the prime of their population—making the ultimate sacrifice to protect their citizens and to perpetuate the only democracy in the Middle East. Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer, keynote speaker at the summit’s Night to Honor Israel, noted: “Israel deserves more than the support of the international community; Israel deserves the admiration of the international community.”

Reality warns us not to accept the pseudo notion that says in siding with our enemies, we will be spared. Although the truth can sometimes be dismissed due to the distractions of life and the misinformation of the media, we cannot allow ourselves to be fooled. Our enemies are honest in their threat to wipe Israel off the map, and they are serious about their plan to come after the greater of the two evils afterwards. Undoubtedly, we are as much their enemy as Israel is. To encapsulate the wise words of the brilliant Dennis Prager: “Good is good and evil is evil. Good must not and cannot be confused with evil, neither the converse.” In a world where good and evil seem to be a matter of opinion and easily interchangeable, the light still shines brightest during the deepest darkness. Therefore, we are encouraged to stand for Israel during what seems to be the depths of her despair, because in so doing—we stand for our own values, and yes, for our very selves. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann said it this way, when she exclaimed on the final day of the conference: “Let your light shine! Let your light shine! Let your light shine!”

The culmination of the convention came as every constituent met with their congressional and senatorial representatives. Thousands of advocates filled the offices of Capitol Hill with one clear message: Stop Iran. Stop Hamas. Stop Hezbollah. Gratefully, the group was received well and after a long day of lobbying on the Hill, CUFI executive director, David Brog, announced that the bill calling for an end to Hezbollah’s use of the international banking system (one that the group had appealed for during the day), had passed with a unanimous 404 – 0 vote. This victory, although small, gave the group hope as the conference came to a close.

As thousands of Christians from different denominations made their way home, the highlight of the summit was clearly captured by Pastor Mac Hammond’s remark earlier during the convention: “The sleeping giant of Christian Zionism is indeed awake.” This pronouncement speaks to unity amongst Christians standing together and supporting each other for Zion’s sake—but also to the solidarity expressed with and for the Jews, of which we know is somewhat lacking in history. Dr. Dror Eydar, leading columnist for Israel Today (a popular Israeli newspaper) and speaker at the summit, gave heartfelt notice and consideration to this fact when he explained that Sabras (those born in Israel) have come to realize that evangelical Christians are true friends. If CUFI has
accomplished anything thus far (and it has), this testimony fro m an Israeli Jew is something to be proud of.

Regarding the War between Israel and Gaza

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

Note from Pastor Tim:
With all that is happening in Israel, I wanted to share with you regarding the current crisis that is happening there in the war with Hamas. I was about to sit down and write when I received this correspondence from my brilliant and good friend Raanan Levy, the former adviser to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. It is slightly longer than normal but will give bring you clear thinking and truth regarding the conflict that is happening between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. It will follow a video that is called: "Who is Responsible for the Suffering in Gaza?" It is a critically important video to help you understand the current situation, to help see the urgency for prayer, and to help you share the truth with others. Watch the video and then please read the article "Gaza, What's Next"  from my friend Raanan Levi. God bless you! Pastor Tim

“Who is Responsible for the Suffering in Gaza?”

Gaza, What's Next?

In 2005 Israel pulled out of the Gaza Strip, after a 38 year long military occupation, and Military administrative rule over several thousand Israeli families who lived there for decades. When PM Ariel Sharon came to explain to his staff his reasoning for his shocking announcement of his plan to pull out of Gaza, (spring of 2002), he gave 3 reasons for it:

* An immediate relief to the heavy burden on the IDF, defending 9,000 Jewish civilians.

* Obtaining a solid and broad International support from the USA and EU, once we leave Gaza and end the "occupation".

* Rolling the pressure on the "Palestinian Authority", to reciprocate to a historic Israeli gesture, and compromising on their 50 year long outrageous demands. The PA, said Sharon, will have to accept the "two state solution", and bow to the International pressure that they will be exposed to.
While I still have tremendous respect to Ariel Sharon and his monumental 60 year long career serving our nation, there is no doubt that this move turned to be the most echoing fiasco of his career.
Today, 9 years after the disengagement, we can see the total failure of each and every parameter of his goals:
* The IDF, in the past 9 years, invests humongous resources in defending Israel from the largest nest of terror in the world. Not only the passive defense became the most condensed military zone anywhere on the globe, but Israel had to engage over 3 times in intense "mini-wars", to put a cap on Hamas military threats on Millions of Israelis.
* The International community did not move one bit towards Israel, on the Palestinian issue. No country of relevance, has ever put any pressure on the Palestinian Authority, to change their demands towards Israel, or to stop the venomous incitement against Israel, amongst Palestinian youth, children, and mainstream Palestinian Media.

* Although 90% of Palestinians live under Hamas or PA rule, ( 45% under PA in Judea and Samaria, since 1993 Oslo    agreements,  and another 45% under Islamist and murderous Hamas rule in Gaza), Israel is still blamed to be, or perceived as being, an "occupier" in its' own land.
The present day offensive in Gaza, was imposed on us deliberately by Hamas. They chose the timing and they chose the intensity. Israel waited 10 very long days, with over 4-5 Million Israelis running to bomb shelters 5-20 times a day, until it started responding by a massive aerial attack. Then, even that did not deter the Hamas, which forced us to enter with ground forces, for the past 12 days already.
The "diplomatic clock" started ticking seriously, only 5-6 days ago. The USA's response to the events, literally prolonged this whole thing. Instead of the USA strengthening Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, (and ... Israel...), the US decided to embrace America’s strongest haters, giving undeserved clout to Erdogan and Qatar. "Go figure", as they say. Kerry’s' people say in the past 24 hours, that Kerry did not make any proposals, "he only shared ideas".  Wow, huge difference. Instead of providing insulting explanations, Kerry should have told Hamas that they are in no position at all to ask for anything in return for a ceasefire.
The inevitable conclusions of all those events, and the "to do" list on Netanyahu’s' desk, should be obvious. The operation in Gaza should continue, full force, for another 15-20 days at least. The IDF must have ample time to achieve 3 key objectives at this point:
* Destroy all tunnels of all kinds that we know of.
* Confiscate and demolish all Hamas infrastructure we have access to, in the 13-18 day range. Rockets, rifles, explosive storages, bunkers, communication channels and equipment, and metal workshops that manufacture mortars and rockets.
* Catch or eliminate, a meaningful number of Hamas field commanders and leaders.
Once those goals are reached, and they will can all be reached in 13-18 days without a doubt, Israel should leave the Gaza, unilaterally, and without any ceasefire agreement. We need to leave them a note on the fridge, "We had a great time, call us when you want us to come back". Any effort to reach an agreement now, will be a terrible mistake. A ceasefire, will never be honored by Hamas, it will only be used for re-arming and reloading. It will also turn Israel and USA haters, to benefit from an imaginary "brokerage" of a diplomatic hoax no one believes in. Who needs it? We can leave without a ceasefire "agreement", it will look exactly the same, only with benefits to Israel, and nothing for Hamas.
And last but not least. Once this is over, Israel should send a senior defense official to have a personal cup of coffee in Qatar, with the Emir of Qatar,  His Trillionnaireness, Mr. Al Thani. We should tell him in person, that if Qatar will continue to fuel the rockets from Gaza, life in Doha, will be very different. If they think they can put Tel-Aviv in bomb shelters with their money, we can make it clear to them, that they are very wrong. Without going into details, Israel can send this message clearly, and it will not go unnoticed. It will also never be challenged or doubted. It's as easy as that. The Emir of Qatar will not want to see one of his cousin's Rolls Royces suddenly blow up in his la-la land country, and have his rule over that insanely wealthy principality,  start shaking by unclaimed "events" in Doha’s' finest restaurants and shopping malls.
A comprehensive offensive Israeli attitude for only the next 3-4 weeks, can make a huge difference on the timing of the "next round". We can not decide when it will be, we can only make clear what the ramifications are.

Benjamin Franklin: Unless the Lord Builds the House

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

Psalm 127:1 (NIV) "Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain."

Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.

I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings, that "except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that build it." I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without His concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better, than the Builders of Babel: We shall be divided by our partial local interests; our projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall become a reproach and bye word down to future ages. And what is worse, mankind may hereafter from this unfortunate instance, despair of establishing governments by human wisdom and leave it to chance, war and conquest.

I therefore beg leave to move that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business, and that one or more of the clergy of this city be requested to officiate in that service.

Driven by God's Love

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

This past week, we were privileged to have the greatest living Evangelist - Reinhard Bonnke at our church for five days. In my 31 years of ministry, never have I been more moved and stirred by the Spirit of God. He has preached to crowds of over 3 million people and had over 75 million recorded salvation throughout his ministry. He has now been called to preach to America and turn America's heart to the Lord.

We have a sanctuary that seats almost 3,000 people and our altar was flooded each service with people that either gave their life to the Lord or recommitted their life to the Lord. If someone did not know Jesus when they came in the door, they certainly did know Him when they left.

There is something so very special about those that live their life so utterly dedicated to the saving of souls. They, maybe better than anyone else, see how much God loves every human being. They see how everyone's lives have been touched and tainted by sin and hurtful circumstances. They don't see the sinner or unbeliever as someone to be disgusted with or having a disdain for.  They think in their hearts Except for the grace of God, that would be me. They think about how their own life lacked direction, purpose, and significance. They think about how God lifted them from the power of darkness, confusion, and wandering aimlessly through life and lifted them into His love, forgiveness, and a purpose-filled, blessed life. They want that for others. They are driven by it. And they inspire other Christians, reminding us of the gift and good news of Jesus that God has allowed and commissioned us to share with others.

To think that we can be used to introduce others to the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ and then watch their life become new in Him is the greatest miracle of all. I was one of those people in 1977. That sounds like a long time ago but to me it was like yesterday. That person that shared Jesus with me—Sharon—sharing Jesus with me changed my entire life. In more ways than you could believe.

I am posting you a link to watch to see who Reinhard Bonnke is. You have to watch it. Please, I beg you to!  It is the most amazing video you will have ever seen. No where in history will you ever see more people assembled to come and hear the gospel. When you see this sea of people it might make you cry. Your tears will be from the glory of God manifesting before your very eyes and touching your heart.

I am also giving you the link to these services where you can watch them. When you go there, click on "GUESTS" and you will see the videos there. Nothing matches being physically at these services where you also experience the presence of God. To be there is another experience entirely. But you will be moved by his messages and I pray that you will watch them and be stirred in your hearts from them. You will be hearing and seeing more of Reinhard Bonnke. His presence in America will not go unnoticed. I thank God for this man's ministry and for stirring me even more about reaching people with the love of Jesus. I have been writing Fresh Manna for this past 14 years driven by that very thing. And my fire for reaching others is brighter today than when I started. You are a light and I pray that you will allow God to stir you so that you also will be a vessel to touch others with the love of Jesus! God bless you!

2 Corinthians 5:19-20 (NIV) "God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God."

This is Funny! "We Are in Trouble"

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt
How about a little bit of humor this weekend. After all, Proverbs 17:22 (NIV) says, "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."
Someone sent this to me and made me laugh! I am hoping it will make you laugh also! Laughter is good! oh oh
"WE ARE IN TROUBLE"
If you didn't know before, you do now... We are in trouble!
The Population of this country is 310 million. 160 Million are retired. That leaves 140 million to do the Work.
There are 85 million in school. Which leaves 55 million to do the work.
Of this there are 35 million employed by the federal Government.
Leaving 20 million to do the work.
2.8 million are in the armed forces preoccupied With killing TERRORISTS. Which leaves 17.2 Million to do the work.
Take from that total the 15.8 Million people who work for state and city Governments. And that Leaves 1.4 million to do the work.
At any given Time there are 188,000 people in hospitals. Leaving 1,212,000 to do the work.
Now, there are 1,211,998 people In prisons.
That leaves just two people to do the Work. You and me.
And there You are sitting on your butt at your computer, reading jokes.
Nice. Real nice.
Smile and have a blessed weekend!
In His Love,
Pastor Tim Burt

A Critical Sign of the Last Days

Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt

If you have ever gone to any professional sporting events, they are fun and exciting but not easy to get into or cheap. Finding parking can be a challenge and represent a significant walk and expense—maybe twenty dollars or more just to park. The game tickets can cost fifty to hundreds of dollars. You may be paying six to eight bucks for a hot dog. To do something like this as a family event may cost you hundreds of dollars. I am not saying any of this is bad. To the contrary, these events can be a lot of fun. I've watched the Vikings play and heard the roar of the cheering and excited crowds. That’s why these stadiums are packed out despite the cost and energy it takes to participate in them. Even during the recent years of recession, the stadiums were packed at prices that I never would have believed could be sustained.

Every day that passes we approach the second coming of Jesus Christ. We are now in what many if not most Christian leaders call, The Last Days. How long are the last days? That’s hard to speculate. The Bible teaches that God is patient for mankind to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Yes, He is patient, but there will come a day when that time of patience ends just as it did when the door of Noah's Ark was closed. The Bible has a lot to say about those days. In 2 Timothy 3:1 (NLT) it says: “You should also know this…that in the last days there will be very difficult times.” The Greek Word difficult means perilous—many devastating events occurring in the earth. But it means even more. It means that what is going on—the evil and lack of living for God will reduce the strength of people to resist evil. It means that the increase of the evil of the day will diminish not only unbelievers but believers strength to withstand the temptations that lead them to violate God's word and instruction for living. It then describes what many will become like in these last days—descriptions that are horrifying. One of those description says, “People will be… lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.”

I am not equating anything regarding these sporting events as bad. What I am asking is this: Is there the same excitement to know the God of creation and the Savior of mankind? People make excuses for why they can’t come to church yet they go to extraordinary efforts and expense to make time for the things that represent pleasure in their life. That is a sign of diminishing strength. They say they don’t have money—except maybe token gifts of change to give to God or good works—and yet they’ll spend enormous amounts of money on their pleasures. That is a sign of diminishing strength. Jesus predicted that. He said, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” People put their time, effort, and money into what they value. They don’t have time to pray or read their Bible or engage in something that lifts their heart toward God in the morning, but they will expend time and money to pick up a newspaper, watch a morning talk show, connect to the Internet and social media, and make a quick stop at Starbucks.

I say none of this to condemn. None of these things are inherently bad or evil. The Bible says that “God richly gives us all things to enjoy.” But even though He doesn't mind if we have things and enjoy them, He doesn't want things to have us—to dominate our thinking and pleasures only to diminish and supplant our craving and love for Him and His plans.

Can we return to our knees? Can we honestly open our heart to God? Can we ask Him to strengthen us to live for Him and have evidence of it in our life? Things are okay when and only when our focus is God and His plan for us is the center of our life. If we return to our knees with sincerity, openness, and repentance if necessary, then He can refresh our love and impart His strength and a renewed focus to live for Him.

Matthew 6:33 (NIV) “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well"
