It seems like everyone I talk to lately is busier than usual…which shouldn’t be the case, since these are the summer months when things are supposed to slow down. I was thinking about that and wondering why that seems to the case…especially in my own life! And the answer? It’s a simple case of prioritizing and learning to say “no” to the things that might not be “bad,” but that ultimately absorb far too much of my thought life. I would love to point the finger and blame my exhaustion on having too much to do. But I need to point the finger back at myself…because God has a plan for our life, and it won’t lead to a cluttered mind and life. We do the cluttering by taking on things God never asked us to do…by squandering our time doing things that are complete time-wasters…by not being alert to what He wants us to do daily. Today’s verse was a wake-up call to me…did it wake you up too?
Romans 13:11-12 MSG ~ Make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God…Be up and awake to what God is doing!
