A Place to Run To by Renee Burt

If you keep up with the news at all, then you'll notice that a lot of what they report on are "natural disasters" that are weather related. Recently, I watched reports on hurricane winds, tornadoes, and floods that destroyed both homes, property...and lives. In each case, people were caught unawares by sudden changes in the weather that turned deadly in their intensity. It's not really so different in our lives. Things can be going along really well, and all of a sudden, something disastrous happens in our health, in our finances, in a relationship. But unlike the "natural disasters" where people aren't able to find a way of escape, we always have a way of escape through our merciful and gracious God...if we'll turn to Him at those times. He never promised us that we wouldn't have calamities in life, but He has promised to be a shelter, a comfort, a help, a deliverer for us during those times. He's done that for me more times than I can count. So when a stormy situation has threatened to overtake me? I've learned to run to Him in the past, and I'm ready to run to Him today (if need be)...confident in the promise of today's scripture!

Psalm 57:1 AMP ~ BE MERCIFUL and gracious to me, O God, be merciful and gracious to me, for my soul takes refuge and finds shelter and confidence in You; yes, in the shadow of Your wings will I take refuge and be confident until calamities and destructive storms are passed.
